This is one of my most favourite restaurants in Milan. Non-descript, shared tables, crowded with locals, loud, bright, BUT….. great food, family sized ample portions and always a side show of chef/owner Oscar who is a bit of a modern Mussolini in his restaurant. His wife and kids work there and he’s often barking directions to the lot of them.
We shared a few pastas: papperdelle ai funghi (wide pasta noodles with a mushroom crème sauce), spaghetti alle cozze e vongole (spaghetti with mussels and clams), penne arrabiata (penne with a spicy light tomato sauce). For main courses we shared filetto al pepe verde (steak with a green peppercorn sauce) and filetto primavera (steak with arugula) and a side order of spinach sauteed in olive oil, garlic and hot pepper flakes.
So much good food! Oscar made his rounds and had a nice chat with us.
Dinner and a show; what more could you ask for?
