I was an invited to this pre-theatre fête. From the name, I just assumed it was some kind of French place. Surprise, surprise, it’s a full on Mexican place. The décor is a modernized vision of Mexican chic. There is an upper mezzanine seating area which gives the ground floor a very lofty airy feel.
Mexican restaurant? Of course we had to start with a round of margaritas. I had the toloache margarita which is flavoured with hibiscus, blueberries and lime. A nice twist to the classic.
Food is good. I recommend the tasting of three different guacamoles with chips. The guac is freshly made to order at the visible kitchen / grilling area and the chips came hot and freshly made. Despite the profusion of Mexican standards (burritos, tacos, etc) I decided to go with a breakfasty order—French toast topped with bananas and a dulce de leche sauce. It could have been a bit more cooked (was still a bit soft in the middle) but the flavours were all there and worded well together.
I’m admittedly not a fan of Mexican cuisine but I would definitely go back to this place.
